    Generator Mode

    Introduction

Diesel generators are widely used in areas with unstable grid supply to guarantee a reliable supply in industrial plants, backup systems and off-grid communities. Combined with photovoltaics, these diesel systems offer great potential for long-term cost savings.

The SolaX PV-Genset solution ensures optimum interaction between the photovoltaics and diesel generator. This saves fuel, lowers energy costs and ensures a stable and reliable power supply.

    Mode One: ATS Control

    Convenient

Very easy to integrate into existing systems

No extra devices needed (Generator should have its own ATS)

    No extra connection needed

    Simple control

    No complicated setup

In this operating mode, generator is working as “grid”. Generator do not communicate with inverter which means no wiring modification needed (but inverter also unable to control generator in detail). The ATS below (comes with generator) will decide generator ON/OFF depend on grid status.

    1. MaxChargePower

Maximum battery charging power from generator. (0~30000, 5000w by default)

    2. Char&Disc Period

Charging period not allowed discharge. Discharging Period not allowed charge.

These period settings are associated with the same name settings under “work mode”. The reason why copy these settings here is in order to convenient user (no need to jump back to work mode page to set period when use generator mode).

    3. Charge from Gen→Charge battery to

How many SOC been allowed to charge from generator. (10~100% by default)

    Mode Two: Dry Contact

    Eco-friendly

No extra devices needed (Generator should have its own ATS for grid switch, no ATS required when pure off-grid status)

Only need Drycontact connection between inverter&generator

    Smart-saving

Various control methods automatically maintain engine status at the most efficient level for all scenarios, resulting in reduced fuel consumption, noise and vibration.

In this operating mode, users can intelligently control system through variety settings to meet the needs of different scenarios by Drycontact connection between inverter&generator.

    Inverter side: COM port Drycontact_out(PIN7&PIN8)

    Generator side: Drycontact_in

    1. MaxChargePower

Maximum battery charging power from generator. (0~30000, 5000w by default (x3), 3000w by default (X1))

    2. Reference SOC/Immediately

Select when turn on/off the generator depend on below a or b:

a.Reference SOC: swith on SOC xx%(20%by default), switch off SOC xx%(95% by default (x3), 80% by default (X1) ).

b.Immediately: turn on/off the generator when grid status change.

    3. Switch on/off SOC

Inverter will switch on/off generator when reach this SOC.

    4. MaxRun Time

Maximum operating time of generator. (30Min by default)

    5. MinRest Time

Set the minimum time interval between generator starts to avoid frequent generator switching ON/OFF.(60Min by default)

    6. Allow work

Allowed time period for generator operating.

    7. Char&Disc Period

Charging period not allowed discharge. Discharging Period not allowed charge.

These period settings are associated with the same name settings under “work mode”. The reason why copy these settings here is in order to convenient user (no need to jump back to work mode page to set period when use generator mode).

    8. Charge from Gen→Charge battery to

How many SOC been allowed to charge from generator. (10~100,10% by default)

    Compatibility

    Only G4 inverter support generator mode(Sep 2022).

Generator drycontact mode and adapter box(for heat pump) share the same Drycontact PINs. So generator Drycontact mode and adapter box unable to be used at same time.
